A common mistake in difficult times is confusing external pressure with personal inadequacy. When markets weaken, opportunities shrink, or businesses struggle, people often begin to doubt themselves. This is what must be avoided. I continue to advise my colleagues in c suite that never ever get into this syndrome but see how the adversity from crises helping  to power your resilient character .

In my Resilient Mode philosophy, challenges are not a reflection of who you are—they are a test of how you respond. Adversity does not define capability; it reveals character.

Instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?” or “Am I good enough?”, ask:

“What is this situation teaching me, and how can I rise above it?”

Every setback is an opportunity to learn, adapt, and grow stronger. Resilience is not denial of reality, but clarity in accepting it, humility in learning from it, and discipline in responding to it.

The strongest people are not those with fewer challenges, but those who refuse to be defined by them. You always have a choice: let difficulty weaken your confidence, or let it expand your capability.

Those who consistently choose growth enter what I call Resilient Mode—where pressure becomes purpose, setbacks become preparation, and adversity becomes a foundation for success.

In practice, resilience is built through simple disciplines:

  • Separate facts from emotions. Most suffering comes from interpretation, not reality.
  • Focus only on what you can control. Ask: “What is the next action I can take today?”
  • Reflect daily. Ask: “What did today’s challenge teach me?” This trains the mind to seek lessons, not losses.

Never measure yourself by the size of your problems, but by your ability to learn, adapt, and persist.

Storms pass. Markets recover. Circumstances change. What remains is the resilience you build through them—an asset no crisis can take away.

In my own journey with EFS, we have faced downturns, cancellations, shareholder challenges, and Covid. Yet none of it made me question our worth or direction. Every crisis became a lesson, and every setback strengthened our resolve.

That is the philosophy I share with every leader I mentor.

When facing adversity, Resilient Mode is the only Plan A.

Because the moment you question your worth, you surrender before the fight is over.

Choose resilience.

The challenge will pass.

The strength you build will remain for life.
